This past weekend we went camping up past Idaho City, to Hayfork again. This time with some of our friends. It was so much fun and a much needed getaway, the last before we have this baby in 3 weeks!

We headed up by ourselves Thursday after work and the Hurst and Prices came up Friday afternoon. We had so much fun relaxing, walking, eating, playing, talking, and more eating. Oh and trying our darndest to keep the kids clean, which, seriously, what were we thinking?
Lucy 10 minutes after we got to the campsite Thursday night. She was seriously a dirt magnet the whole weekend.

Thursday night/Friday morning was pretty chilly, but I found it quite refreshing.

Brushing our teeth at the pump. Pretty sure I brushed my teeth there when I was 3 too.

Johnny's going to run out of lap room soon.

I think she's cute.

Camping at 36 weeks preggo. Why not?

Ben, Claire, Lucy, and Jenna enjoying the freezing creek.

Both girls LOVED sleeping in the tent.

Hiking up the Bad Bear road. Hot, but fun.

Playing in and adventuring up and down the creek was definitely a favorite. Nice photo bomb P.
Friends. 1 large, 2 small.

That last picture deserves an explanation. you can't really tell, but Lucy is enjoying a roasted marshmallow. The last night all the kids were in bed except Lucy and we were snuggling by the fire for a bit. Then we took her into the tent to go to bed. While Johnny was saying prayers, Lucy all of the sudden burst into tears with her face in both her hands. Johnny quickly finished and we asked her what was wrong. She looked up with big tears and said " we never roasted marshmallows! sob, sob, sob." Johnny and I looked at each other, laughed, and got her shoes back on and let her roast a few marshmallows. After that she went right in the tent and to sleep, no problems. It was seriously hilarious how distraught she was about it, but really, what were we thinking? 3 nights, no mallows? I chalk it up to having so much fun during the day we all just collapsed each night.

Despite the lack of mallows, this was a serious blast. Hoping to make this a camping tradition with our awesome friends!

  1. This is awesome! So, if I have a kid, will I get to come too? :)

  2. Haha Chels, children are not a requirement! Consider yourself invited for next year!
