Memorial Weekend Camping!

Friday morning we headed up to Hayfork campground about 10 miles past Idaho City. We've gone there as a Spjute family since I was little, but haven't been in quite a while. It was just as great as we all remembered! Campfires, hiking, playing in the creek, games, Bill Grogan's goat sung by my 83 year old grandma, and delicious food cooked in the great outdoors. I will say there is a lot more work when you have little ones, but its that much more fun too. I feel like I hardly saw Lucy, who was running around with cousins the whole time.

Our girls slept great in the tent. A first for both of them. Many scrapes and bruises and slivers were had by the girls, but the good times made up for it. We're ready to go back!
(P.s. I love my mom, but in ALL my pictures, I didn't have a single one of her! She was there having a blast the whole time too! Promise!)
Grandpa, Lucy and Emmy walking up the road to wait fro grandma to come.

Cousins

There's something about a picture of a kid standing on a stump that brings back so many camping memories.

Jenna was sooo happy in the backpack.

Playing Bohnanza! (Randy, Heidi, me, Lucy,Gavin, Dave, Riley)

Nice form Jenna!

Breakfast in the mountains!

The kids waiting for the bottle rocket to launch. This was such a hit!

Lucy found deer antlers on our hike! (Awesome uncle Carl had several of these and went ahead and hid them on the trail. The kids thought it was awesome!)

Dad found a branch that looked like antlers.

Lucy hiked the whole way, with only minimal whining.

Crossing the log about 8 ft. above the stream. Right after this poor Gavin got in some stinging nettle.

Naptime in the tent!

Hiking up the road near Bad Bear.

Flowers for grandma. What a cheese.

Lucy adores Livia. These two have such a blast together. They were playing barbie island in the creek with Emmy's dolls.

We Went into Idaho City Saturday night for some ice cream at Donna's. It was delicious! Lucy's was called "beach comber" it was bright blue with little bits of every color of the rainbow in it and tasted like fruit loops.

So fun watching these kids play together.

Dinner!

Jenns and Gage.

During the torrential downpour Sunday evening we took refuge in my parents trailer. Jake tried to sleep, haha.

Lucy and Liv spent 45 minutes decorating this little stage with moss, pine cones and flowers. The next morning they performed for everyone.

Marshmallow shooters.

iPhone dump.

Some of these are really old, and some are recent. Johnny just uploaded his pictures from his phone so you probably haven't seen most of these. Enjoy!

Shirts of A Dead Guy

The other day I was hanging up some of Johnny's work shirts from the dryer when I thought they looked pretty and wanted to take a picture. I'm weird. Or I just love photos, hence the current count of images in my iphoto is 13,645. Yup. True.

Anyway, I was looking at the shirts and after thinking they looked pretty I starting counting how many of them came from a dead guy.

Let me back up.

My mom works a couple times a week helping out an old lady in her ward. Mary Lou. She is 95, I think. Anyway, a while back they were going through some of her late husbands clothing to get rid of and she just couldn't part with some of the nicer things.

Like the shirts. So she asked my mom if she knew anyone who could use them. And since Mary Lou's husband was just as skinny and almost as tall as Johnny, ta da! New shirts!

The thing is, they're really nice. There are a million little pleats by the cuffs.

Ever heard of Brooks Brothers shirts? I hadn't either. Probably because their dress shirts run for at least $65 a piece.

My mouth gaped when Johnny told me that. But the moment I REALLY knew they were awesome was when I was watching an episode of Gilmore Girls and Richard Gilmore (grandpa) referenced one of his shirts as being a Brooks Brothers.

I ran to tell Johnny.

Who didn't care.

But I felt a little famous, or something.

Anyway, back to the picture 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

5 of those are Brooks Brothers and they are so nice. And those aren't all the ones he's got. He even has a white one for church. Score!

Happy Easter!

Their dresses were indeed as huge and poofy as they look. And I LOVE them.

At the temple to hear daddy sing with the Institute.

Finding out FRIDAY if we're adding another giggly girl OR throwing a boy into this princess palace. Super excited about that!

A New Family Member

Well, it might as well be. Blood sweat and tears went into the making of this, my first quilt!
My mother-in-law was so kind to teach me how to do it. I made it for Lucy's bed and I think it turned out pretty dang good for my first go around.
I sewed the entire top myself, with my mother-in-law giving me instructions here and there, but I mostly did it at home by myself.
When it came time to quilt however, we were at her house using her NICE machine and she helped ALOT.
My mom helped me finish it off with the binding (the edge) today, which I think looks so cute! Lucy has been waiting for this for quite a while, I sure hope she appreciates it.
Check out that last picture, those were a lot of strips! I'm so proud of it and excited to make another one! Maybe before this baby comes, I can't see me being able to make a quilt with 3 kids...

Making Dreams Come True

So, today the girls and I went to Home Depot to get a gallon of paint to paint the master bedroom. As the paint was being mixed we went to get some other painting supplies, rollers, etc. Well, ya know those mini-rollers, the ones that are like a third the size of the regular roller? I think they're for doing edges or something. Anyway, Lucy asked me what it was and I told her and then said, " I was thinking of getting one for you so you can help us paint, since its just your size."  She hugged that roller tight, spun around and said, "I've been dreaming about this for all my years! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"

That's me, m-o-m. Making dreams come true for $2.97.
